Supported Employment Program/Vocational Services

At Helping Hands Health Services, our Supported Employment Program—Your Employment Services (Y.E.S.)—is designed to empower individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges to find and maintain meaningful, competitive employment.

Y.E.S. operates in partnership with the Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) to provide personalized, wraparound employment support. Through this partnership, we ensure that individuals receive the services and tools necessary to thrive in the workforce—not just to get a job, but to keep a job and succeed long-term.

Our Employment Support Services Include:

  • Career Exploration & Planning
    We help individuals identify their strengths, interests, and career goals, while considering any barriers to employment. We work together to build a realistic employment path aligned with the individual’s values and aspirations.

  • Resume & Application Support
    Our employment specialists assist with creating professional resumes and cover letters, completing job applications, and preparing for interviews—ensuring each individual can present their best self to potential employers.

  • Job Development & Job Placement
    We help identify job opportunities that are a good fit and connect directly with employers. Through our partnership with DORS, we advocate for inclusive hiring practices and coordinate interviews with local businesses committed to workforce diversity.

  • On-the-Job Coaching & Retention Support
    Our team provides individualized job coaching to support clients during the initial transition into the workplace. We also offer long-term retention support to ensure continued success, adjustment, and problem-solving on the job.

  • Vocational & Soft Skills Training
    We teach key workplace skills such as time management, communication, following directions, and teamwork. We also provide training in industry-specific tasks where needed.

  • Transportation Training
    Understanding how to navigate to and from work is crucial. We assist with learning public transportation routes, planning commute times, and even practicing travel routines to reduce anxiety and build independence.

  • Ongoing Coordination with DORS
    We maintain close communication with DORS counselors to ensure seamless service coordination and progress tracking. Together, we tailor employment plans that meet the individual’s needs while aligning with DORS vocational goals.
