About Us

Helping Hands Health Services was founded by CEO Melissa Handler, a passionate advocate for mental health and community-based support. Driven by a deep commitment to holistic healing and empowerment, Melissa established Helping Hands to create a safe, accessible, and innovative space where individuals of all ages can grow, heal, and thrive.

We are proud to offer a range of integrated behavioral health services for children, teens, and adults—each designed to meet clients where they are and guide them toward long-term emotional, social, and functional wellness.

Our Core Programs Include:

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP)
Our PRP supports clients in building essential life skills through individualized and group services. Focus areas include social skills, hygiene and grooming, academic performance, emotional regulation, self-esteem, communication, coping strategies, and more. We also offer dynamic group sessions every month, including trauma recovery, parenting support, teen development, and community outings, all led by licensed professionals and trained staff.

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS)
TBS provides intensive, individualized in-home and community-based support for youth experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. Our TBS specialists work closely with clients and caregivers to identify the root causes of behavioral issues and implement evidence-based interventions such as behavioral redirection, conflict resolution, emotional regulation strategies, and communication training. TBS also equips caregivers with tools to foster lasting change.

Your Employment Services (Y.E.S.!)
Y.E.S.! is our Supported Employment Program for individuals with disabilities and mental health diagnoses. In partnership with Maryland DORS, we assist participants with career exploration, resume building, job searching, interview preparation, transportation training, and on-the-job coaching. Our goal is to help each individual find meaningful, competitive employment and feel confident in the workforce.

At Helping Hands, we take a strengths-based, person-centered approach to every service we provide. Whether someone is navigating trauma, building job skills, or developing independence, our mission is to walk alongside them—offering compassionate guidance, innovative tools, and unwavering support.

We believe that healing happens in community, and we are honored to be a part of your journey.
